Genetic analysis methods at biobank scale

Genetic analysis methods at biobank scale

Iuliana Ionita-Laza, PhD, Professor of Biostatistics
Department of Biostatistics, Columbia University.

Abstract

GWAS is a powerful framework for genetic discovery for complex traits. In this talk, I will discuss several powerful statistical methods for genetic discovery and causal variant identification. I will cover some recent developments including a novel fine-mapping method, knockoff-based methods and quantile regression for GWAS. I will show applications to several large scale genomic studies including the UK biobank data.

Biographie

Dr. Ionita-Laza is professor in the department of Biostatistics at Columbia University in New York. She received her PhD in 2006 from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University, followed by postdoctoral training at Harvard University. Her research interests lie at the intersection of statistics and genomics, and revolve around developing statistical and computational methods for the analysis of high-dimensional genetic data.
