Abstract
Intracranial aneurysms (IAs) are pathological dilatations of cerebral arteries with a prevalence in the general population around 3%. However, theit biological features leading to subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and the pathophysiology of their formation is not well known. Besides life-style and medical risk for IA and SAH is increased among patient’s family members suggesting a heritable component contributing to formation and rupture. This presentation will discuss pathophysiological issues that have arisen based on the clinical observations described. We will focus on the genetic background of the disease and the collaboration between our groups in Nantes and Hamburg.
